What does gematria signify

gematria is an ancient system of assigning numerical values to words and phrases that was widely used in the Middle Ages in both Jewish and Christian traditions. This system is rooted in the Hebrew and Greek cultures, though different countries and religious sects have adopted different versions of gematria. The basic idea behind gematria is that each letter of the alphabet can represent a numerical value, or a word or phrase can be represented by an expression of numbers. By comparing these numeric expressions of words and phrases, people can gain insight into meaning and symbolism beyond what's present on the surface.

In Christianity, this age-old practice is still widely used today to interpret passages from the Bible, often relying on complex numerical equations which seek to interpret significant words or concepts within scripture. Some interpretive methods focus simply on assigning a number to each letter in a name or phrase, allowing for quantified comparative analysis between powerful phrases throughout the text. In Jewish tradition, gematria holds a highly esteemed status wherein numerological interpretations are used to unearth possible hidden meanings within sacred scripture. It's also said that when god created the universe he put his signature in it as well – gematria is thought to grant access to this divine code revealing higher truths such as truth about man's ultimate purpose and understanding of his connection with his creator.
